Hazing: A Conversation Amongst Friends – A Special Edition of Nightcap Knowledge

Writer: Mississippi Black PagesMississippi Black Pages

The conversation we need to have is happening.

On this special edition of Nightcap Knowledge, we’re bringing together a group of brothers for an open, honest, and necessary discussion about hazing, pledging, and the meaning of brotherhood in Black Greek life. In the wake of Caleb Wilson’s tragic death, we must confront the culture, responsibilities, and realities that come with membership in these storied organizations.

Joining host George “Chuck” Patterson for "Hazing: A Conversation Amongst Friends" are CJ Lawrence, Bartholomew Allen, and Hubert “Burt” Jackson—who will share their perspectives, personal experiences, and thoughts on the past, present, and future of Black Greek Letter Organizations (BGLOs).

What You Can Expect from This Discussion:

  • The impact of hazing culture and the push for reform

  • Pledging vs. Paper: A debate within fraternities and sororities

  • The bond of brotherhood and how to uphold traditions without harm

  • How BGLOs can evolve while maintaining their rich history and values

  • The responsibility of leadership in protecting future generations

This conversation isn’t about sensationalism—it’s about truth, accountability, and finding a way forward. Whether you’re a member of a fraternity, a student considering joining, or simply someone invested in the safety and legacy of Black organizations, this episode is for you.

Tune in to Nightcap Knowledge and be part of the conversation that matters.
